Everything that I'm not.
Big Room, 1948, by Andrew Wyeth
I'm leaving you
and I'll leave you in this room,
because this room you see, is you.
Fixed in time
in sepia tone.
light filtered
washed walls
all nicely composed
It's a tribute to good taste
proper, quiet, balanced
but it screams from within
and it's smothering me with mold
I'm telling you
this room is you
from floor to ceiling
it's stone cleaned
and labelled
And it's everything that I'm not.
everything that I'm not.
that's why you see
I'm leaving you.

Ouch! Wonderfully done, great description of the stifling of some rooms/relationships, and...ouch.
Nice one..specially like these lines:

This did not have to grow on me. I loved it first read!
ReplyDeleteTHIS .. is a wonderful poem!!!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful poem and a great way to restart your blog.
ReplyDeleteYes, people do become like the rooms they live in, infusing space with the gaiety or lack thereof. A very thoughtful Magpie.
ReplyDeleteBTW. . I'm not a robot, and the sky won't fall in if you get rid of the wretched, time-wasting and pointless word verification.
Thank you guys! It's very kind of you.
